ADRK 2001 Fruhjahrskörung in Rehburg-Loccum

19/20 May, 2001

Hello folks ! As promised, a personal report on the Spring Körung in Rehburg. Pretty good weather considering the location and time of the year, ideal weather for the dogs. A super party on Saturday night, the beer was as good as always...

Anyway, a quick reminder of the results as well as a few personal comments :

Vico von der Flugschneise (Jackomo von der Bleichstrasse x Toxi von der Flugschneise) : FAILED : Attacked the judge during chest circum measurement. Cannot be entered again in an ADRK Körung.

Very nice conformation with a super dry head, I would have loved to see him at work. Unfortunately I barely had time to take one picture and he was gone... not the first time we see Jackomo children with such reactions.

Falco vom Weihungstal (Fürst vom Wolfert Turm x Cinderella vom Wolfert Turm) : FAILED : Gun-shy.

Another dog I was really looking forward to see at work. Too bad. By the way Falco had received a 4a rating in eye color at his ZTP, I can assure you his current eye color is darker than that, dark enough for the Körung. Nicely built dog, typical Fürst offspring.

Bronko vom Römberger Forst (Jackomo von der Bleichstrasse x Queen von der Burgbleiche) : PASSED

Very nice dog, powerful head with an excellent stop and large skull, short broad muzzle, good bones. Hindquarters a bit light. Very good work, with excellent fighting drive and hardness. Definitely an interesting dog.

Chris vom Hause Späth (Hakim vom Brunnenweible x Farah von Burgthann) : PASSED

Many things I don't like in Chris' conformation, such as forequarters, shoulders, feet, head type. But what an amazing dog in the bitework ! Extremely impressive handling by Werner Späth who has owned dogs such as Benno vom Florian or Frisco vom Seedamm. I wouldn't be surprized to see more of Chris in this year's SchH DM...

Donald vom Urstromtal (Hasko von Hohegeiss x Briska vom Dormblick) : PASSED

Average conformation on this dog but an excellent performance in bitework.

Panther vom Bakkes (Irk vom Obergrombacher Schloss x Conny vom Bakkes) : PASSED

A headpiece to die for, impressive bonestrength, but a very average rear end and hinquarters. Panther displayed tremendous fighting drive and hardness in the bitework, one of the best in this Körung.

Andro von der Lauterbrücke (Mambo von der Teufelsbrücke x Onda von der Teufelsbrücke) : PASSED

Very nice conformation, possibly the best overall. Very decent bitework, well handled, obviously trained to the best of his abilities. Clean work.

Brutus von der Schutterquelle (Ferres vom Hirschenrangen x Fendi von den Fürstenwiesen) : FAILED : did not catch the helper in part 1.

Very nice blocky head, strong bones, otherwise an average body. Unfortunately the bitework stopped pretty fast for him, the dog's concentration obviously wasn't at its best.

Shirkan vom Bamberger-Tal (Bill vom Ginsheimer Altrhein x Fabianne vom Bamberger-Tal) : PASSED

Special congratulations to my young friend Benjamin Klöck who successfully went through his first Körung ! Shirkan displayed his very correct conformation (though his markings haven't gotten any darker) and a very satisfying working ability. Not my favorite dog but Shirkan was there doing his job as always.

Rocco vom Wölpinghausen (Elch von der Messestadt x Jenny von Wölpinhausen) : PASSED

A medium-sized, dry and sharp dog with a very impressive speed in the bitework, impressive fighting drive too.

Bismarck vom Börnchen (Lesko vom Heltorfer Forst x Afra vom Wilden Westen) : PASSED

My personal favorite overall. I was really looking forward to seeing him again after his first Körung in september 1999. Excellent body with a top line and angles to die for ! Lots of temperament. Very good work as always.

Tammy von der Berghalbinsel (Greif vom Oberhausener Norden x Kessy von der Berghalbinsel) : FAILED : did not go behind 1st blind.

Correct conformation except for a loose rump. Unfortunately the bitework did not even start for her.

Vanny von der Flugschneise (Jackomo von der Bleichstrasse x Toxi von der Flugschneise) : PASSED

Vico' sister displayed a gorgeous head and overall good body conformation. Excellent dynamic bitework.

Quinny vom Friedensdorf (Racker von der Flugschneise x Iris vom Bamberger-Tal) : PASSED

My favorite female overall and the first tailed rottweiler bitch in the history of the Körung. Excellent conformation : powerful, compact, good bones, very nice head, and lots of temperament. Her bitework was simply fantastic : tons of prey and fighting drives, super hardness... the total rottweiler bitch we're all striving for ! Watch out for her in the years to come.

Nicki vom Goldenen Vlies (Carlo von der Thalheimer Flur x Gina vom Goldenen Flies) : FAILED : did not go behind 1st blind.

Excellent body but a type-lacking head. Unfortunately the bitework was quickly over.

Ilka vom Langenhagen (Kanto vom Nienburger land x Fee von Langenhagen) : PASSED

Powerful bitch with nice conformation. Good dynamic bitework, not very focused but a job well-done overall.

Jipsy von der Weinrebe (Kevin vom Bamberger-Tal x Tanja vom Obergrombacher Schloss) : PASSED

Very good conformation with typeful head, strong bones and excellent feet. Very correct bitework with good drives. A complete bitch.

Urmel vom Vilstaler Land (Benn vom Ruppertsbach x Chiwa vom Vilstaler Land) : PASSED

Same blood as Ch. Muck vom Vilstaler Land. Average body but nice typeful head. Urmel did a good job in bitework although the judge had 3 reloads done on her in part 2 !

Orka vom Wölpinghausen (Elch von der Messestadt x Indra vom Herrenholz) : FAILED (EzA): did not hold helper in part 2.

Nothing particularly attractive in her conformation. Good bitework until the very last moment when she came back to her handler instead of holding the helper.

Chantal vom Eggershof (Lesko vom Heltorfer Forst x Alueda vom Eggershof) : PASSED - EzA

I had enjoyed Chantal's work very much in 1999. She produced some excellent work this year too. Excellent body though head could be stronger. Overall a very pleasant bitch.

I must also mention the test-dog, Kuddel vom Fleischer (Kanto vom Nienburger Land x Janka vom Fleischer) : perhaps the best dog overall in this Körung ! Excellent conformation with powerful head, chest and bones, incredible fighting drive and hardness ! Kuddel will most likely be in the Fall Körung, watch out for him !

Overall results : 20 dogs entered

14 PASSED (2 EzA)

6 FAILED (1 EzA) : 2 did not go to 1st blind, 1 did not hold helper, 1 failed to catch helper, 1 attacked the judge, 1 gun-shy.

Thus the Körung has proved once again its selective aspect. The excellent work of the helpers must be underlined : with Adam Feist in charge of part 1, and Tino Baumert in part 2, combined with the judgements of Helmut Freiburg and Werner Walter, it can be said that those who passed this Körung are really excellent dogs.

As always,a few thoughts on the bloodlines represented in this Körung : the good dogs still come from the bloodlines of Noris vom Grüntenblick, Ken vom Sternbogen, Aki von der Peeler Hütte, Arri vom Hertener Wappen, Timm / Torro vom Zimmerplatz, Karo vom Schwaiger Wappen...

We are yet to see Matcho or Rick's direct offspring entered in a Körung ! Whereas a dog like Kanto vom Nienburger Land, with only 41 puppies produced, has some hard-working offspring on the ground. Lesko vom Heltorfer Forst, also, continues to prove he was the real thing.

This makes me wonder why some continue to claim there's no such thing as working blood... twice a year the Körung proves just the opposite for all to see. I remember the 1999 fall Körung where 50% of dogs entered had Aki's blood in their pedigree...
