ADRK Herbstkörung 2001 in Lehrte, 15/16 September, 2001

As it is now a tradition, an exclusive report on the ADRK Körung held last week-end in Lehrte, near Hannover. 22 dogs entered, cloudy and sometimes rainy weather with temperatures around 14-15°C.

Max vom Kuchenberg : (Basko vom Kuchenberg x Aischa von der Gänselgärten) nicely built male, dry and alert. Protection part not the cleanest (aus problems, nervous bite) but he PASSED.

Calle vom Ehndorfer Moor : (Hero von Hohegeiss x Ronja von der Flugschneise) tall, athletic male with a lot of drive. His bitework was certainly impressive, with difficult aus, excellent grip and an "I can't find the brakes" attitude in the long-distance attack. PASSED.

Nobody vom Jägersburger Forst : (Brutus von der Hammerschmiede x Questa von der Mauth) tall male with an average head but correct body. Correct bitework, PASSED.

Akino von der Lauterbrücke : (Mambo von der Teufelsbrücke x Onda von der Teufelsbrücke) compact male with a very sooty coat, very typey head and overall very nice conformation. The bitework was a bit messy but he did the job. PASSED.

Chris von Baskerville : (Endy von der Kurpfalz x Sandy vom Schwaiger Wappen) an average overall conformation for the first Endy von der Kurpfalz son to enter a Körung, but very enthusiastic bitework displaying a lot of fighting drive. PASSED.

Balou vom Silberblick : (Jackomo von der Bleichstrasse x Afra vom Bevertal) INJURED, did not show up.
Candy vom Herrengarten : (Hakim vom Brunnenweible x Ella vom Schwaiger Wappen) average conformation for this Hakim-daughter, but nice drives in the bitework. PASSED.

Andra vom Markgräflerland : (Arco von Edelsberg x Nora vom Markgräflerland) nice-looking bitch in my opinion, with a strong thick body. Very good bitework, Andra displayed excellent drives and strong will-power. PASSED.

Yessy vom Kuchenberg : (Zambo vom Mariannenthal x Banja vom Kuchenberg) friendly, strong bitch with a tail (only the second tailed-rottie to take part in a Körung after Quinny vom Friendsdorf in the spring edition), bitework was a little shy at times, but she hung in there and PASSED.

Dina vom Herrengarten : (Benn vom Ruppertsbach x Yara von Bickesheim) second try for the sister of the famed KS'01 Donner, a tall powerful bitch with somewhat light eyes and rough features. A rather shy bitch, she came back to her handler in the first part of the defense work, after discovering the helper behind the blind. FAILED.

 SORRY, NO PICTURE AVAILABLE.

Kelly von der Räuberhöhle : (Donner vom Brunnenweible x Gamba von der Räuberhöhle) bad luck for this 6 year old bitch who was in her third Körung (trying for EzA this time) : in the 1st part of bitework, she did good but unfortunately hurt herself after a bad move. FAILED (but allowed to try again).

Benno vom Nördlichen Schwarzwald : (Dolf vom Weissen Graben x Eike vom Zimmerplatz) very good body but average head, bitework was rather shy but he hung in there and eventually PASSED.

Aki vom Ströher Land : (Danjo vom Eichengrund x Hummel von der Wolfsbank) good strong body, a little shy at times, Aki displayed very good fighting drive in the bitework. PASSED.

Hero vom Hünxer Wappen : (Kai von Hohegeiss x Angy vom Hünxer Wappen) cannot be entered again : Hero attacked the judge during chest circum measurement. FAILED.

HE WAS OUT SO QUICKLY I COULDN'T TAKE ANY PICTURE OF HIM...

Dusty vom Herrenboden : (Asko vom Wildfang x Bani vom Herrenboden) not a super body for this Asko vom Wildfang son, but fantastic bitework ! PASSED.

Tim vom Weissen Schwan : (Jackomo von der Bleichstrasse x Anouk vom Tegler Fliess) my favorite male by far. Excellent conformation with a strong typey head, great bonestrength and super body. His bitework was excellent as well, Tim got a lot of applause and even praise from Mr Apel himself. PASSED.

Gandy vom Eisplatz : (Endy von der Kurpfalz x Zensi vom Eisplatz) the second Endy-son entered, a very strong body, an average head, excellent temperament, friendly dog. Very impressive bitework, Gandy put a lot of pressure on the helpers. PASSED.

Uschi vom Hause Rumpel : (Droll vom Hause Karmasin x Jenni vom Hause Rumpel) an average conformation for this powerful, tall bitch. Excellent bitework with a lot of presence and drive. PASSED.

Ariane von der Feenburg : (Hasko vom Hohegeiss x Eyka vom Gänseliesel) athletic, somewhat light female, very friendly and alert. Extremely impressive bitework, with great speed and determination. PASSED.

Dunja von Tengen : (Kevin vom Bamberger-Tal x Bea von Tengen) excellent conformation for this V-rated bitch : strong athletic body, typey head, dark eyes. Her bitework was, along with Ariane's, probably the best of all females and possibly overall. PASSED.

Nicki vom Goldenen Fliess : (Carlo von der Thalheimer Flur x Gina vom Goldenen Fliess) correct conformation for this compact, small bitch. Good bitework, with a lot of determination, speed and enthusiasm. PASSED.

Ticia vom Hause Anin : (Mambo von der Teufelsbrücke x Maxima vom Hause Anin) very strong body, correct head and excellent clean bitework. PASSED (EzA).

Overall results : 22 dogs entered, 21 were present

18 PASSED (1 EzA)

3 FAILED (1 EzA) : 1 attacked the judge, 1 did not hold the helper in part 1, 1 hurt herself in part 1.

The excellent work of the helpers must be underlined as always : Adam Feist in charge of part 1, and Tino Baumert in part 2, same combination as in the spring edition. Judges were Paul Fleige and Gehrd Apel.

Like I said, Tim vom Weissen Schwan was for me the most complete male in the week-end. He's everything a rottweiler should be : nice and strong-looking, friendly, always ready to work.

Calle vom Ehndorfer Moor was probably the most impressive male worker, though not the "cleanest". Other very good males were Dusty vom Herrenboden, Gandy vom Eisplatz and Chris von Baskerville.

As far as females, the best combination of conformation and good work was undoubtedly Dunja von Tengen.

Ariane von der Feenburg was also very impressive in the bitework.

Overall, very strong defense work. Conformation-wise, it ranged between average and good. I noticed the harshness of the judges in their descriptions, particularly when it came to the head : out of the 21 dogs present, 15 got a "mittel" cheekbones rating, and 1 "schwach" ! Of course some of the dogs there had indeed medium cheekbones, but more often than not this rating seemed unfair to most observers.

Maybe some of the current show-ring superstars, with their enormous blockey head (Balou vom Silberblick, Morro vom Hause Märker, Donner vom Herrengarten, Bronko od Dragicevica and others), are beginning to make the judges forget what a "normal" rottweiler looks like. Same for the stop, often rated as "medium" when it is actually quite nice.
