2003 Bundessiegerschau in Dortmund, October 19
All in all a very enjoyable Bundessiegerschau this year, with 66 entries and several Klubschau stars such as KS'03 Cujo von der Burg Weibertreu, Chan von der Bleichstrasse, Morro vom Hause Märker, Balou vom Bamberger-Tal, Emil von der Bleichstrasse, Odo vom Fleischer, Muck von der Scherau, Maik von der Frankentanne, Quantas vom Jägersburger Forst and many others. Mr Petermann judged the Male classes, and Mr Teschke judged the Female classes. My favorite dogs were Chan von der Bleichstrasse, who really has come a long way over the last two years, Muck von der Scherau, Odo vom Fleischer, Maik von der Frankentanne and Lord vom Kalenborn in the Male classes. In the female classes, I was most impressed with Farina vom Grüntenblick, a superb young female who would have derserved the title in my opinion, and I have no doubt she will be back in the top ranks in the spring. Gwen von der Bleichstrasse was a nice, logical winner. Overall the quality of the females was not as good as the males'. I have been most impressed with the few Orlando vom Hause Neubrand - offspring that were present, with good, typeful heads and compact bodies, displaying very much ring-presence. I was on the other hand, not so impressed with the Donner vom Herrengarten offspring I saw, with the exception of Ben vom Shambala who placed V1 in the Open Class. He's a good-looking young male and will most likely have more wins next year. I think that besides this B-litter von Shambala and a few others, Donner has been used by many breeders who were drawn to him by his KS'01 title, and bred him to females that were sometimes not suited to Donner... hence the overall disappointing result. This has been a great day for the Bleichstrasse kennel, earning both male and female titles, and very deservedly so... and both times with Quenda von der Bleichstrasse offspring, Quenda being the full blood-sister of Jackomo von der Bleichstrasse. I was less impressed with the Youth Winners than I was with the adult ones. In my opinion, Lord vom Kalenborn and Farina vom Grüntenblick, both Orlando offspring, should have been awarded the BJS'03 title. As always in the Dortmund Westphallen Halle, it's very difficult to take good pictures because it's a rather dark place, and the few sun-rays that come through are fogged with cigarette smoke... so I apologize for the poor quality of some of the pictures.
