Good weather on both days considering the season and location, allowing for consistent and fair work for all dogs involved. On Sunday the tracking grounds were a little bit more dry, with a few gusts of wind now and then, but nothing too drastic for such dogs.

This year's contest had another heart-stopping final hour with the two best competitors, Cash vom Schloss Rastede and Troll vom Hause Anin, tied with (284 points) similar C part scores, the final ranking on the podium coming from a 1 point difference in the B part score. Troll was last to go in C-part on Sunday, and needed a 95 to sweep it all home. He fell one point short and had to let it go. Needless to say his C-part took place in complete silence on the part of the spectators, as everyone was holding their breath... the thrill of dog sport at its best !

Judging in the B-part, was very harsh, as in the C-part. Of coure severe judgment is to be expected at such a high level, and it really took a good dog/handler team to score 90 and + in Obedience and Bitework. Many dogs fell short as you can see in the full results.

The helpers did correct, standard work, nothing too hard, nothing too soft. Yet we have seen a couple of dogs getting eliminated in bitework after failing to frankly engage the 2nd helper, which is pretty surprizing, considering it's a Final and that all those dogs had fared very well before in their regions of origin. Well, there might be no accounting for what happens inside a dog's head on the day of a major competition.

I was impressed with the two "Schloss Rastede" males' overall performance, very nice work in all parts. Troll was of course as pleasant as always, with very consistent, accurate work.

Ira vom Brandenburger Tor and Fax von Tengen performed very nice bitework. Paul vom Türnleberg was for me, the most impressive dog in the C-part, with explosive, enthusiastic impact in the helpers, very spectacular work indeed. The Türnleberg kennel alone, had 4 dogs entered, among which a father - son situation with Ivanhoe and Paul competing one against the other.
